Milk does a body good. You need calcium from milk to have strong bones. Milk is a great source of protein. Milk is a healthy fat. I would guess most people if not all have heard these quotes before. I’m not going to act as if this was not the case at some point. However, we now have enough scientific research and information to prove that dairy products are very dangerous for a number of reasons.
First of all, if you have an IBD or any other autoimmune disease for that matter, PUT THE DAIRY DOWN! Dairy products have the ability to wreck havoc on your gut microbiome and cause leaky gut syndrome. When you’re diagnosed with an IBD and/or one of the many autoimmune diseases your doctor will put you on a gluten free diet. Gluten proteins are like splinters when they hit the lining of your gut. This process leads to the leaky gut syndrome that I’ve discussed in many different posts. Again, gut permeability increases which allows food particles to enter the bloodstream. The immune system attacks these foreign invaders. Gluten protein mimics body tissue and glands such as the thyroid. This causes the immune system to become confused and attack its own tissue. The casein protein in dairy mimics body tissue and glands just like gluten. It causes the same disruptive behavior and causes the same autoimmune response as gluten. So you must give up the dairy along with the gluten for the body to reach a point of balance were it can heal itself.
Furthermore, European researchers have found that 80% of the patients they studied had Chron’s Disease and Johne’s Disease ( Mycobacterium Paratubercolosis Infection.) Johne’s Disease is found in cattle and has the same symptoms and characteristics as Chron’s. The common link is found in the Mycobacterium Paratubercolosis bacteria or “MAP” for short. Humans contract this bacteria from drinking milk because cows secrete the bacteria abundantly in their milk.
Now many of you might be saying “I don’t have an autoimmune disease so why should I care?” Don’t worry because I’ve got you covered also. Let’s start with obesity. Dr. Neal Bernard gave some interesting facts about dairy. Cheese is over 70% fat. One gram of fat in cheese contains almost 10 calories. An undisclosed pizza chain said they used up to 1lb of cheese on an extra cheese pizza. If we do the math that’s a whopping 4,480 calories on one pizza! To me that’s absolute insanity. Dairy products such as cheese have no fiber. Fiber comes from plant based foods. Fiber has low calories and makes you feel as if you have ate a lot when you actually have not. Dairy products have no fiber to control your appetite so you end up eating large quantities of it. Therefore, you pack on the calories and fat. This fatty food also slows down your metabolism because the mitochondria stores the fat. Cheese is very high in sodium. There’s a saying that “salt sucks” because salt soaks up water. This will make you gain water weight and make you feel bloated and sluggish. So we are looking at high calories, high fat, high sodium, low nutritional content, and slows down your metabolism. This is the perfect recipe for obesity, heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, and many other conditions.
Animal protein is too acidic for the human body. To neutralize the acid and bring about balance in the body, calcium and phosphorus are released from the bones. So the bones are actually losing calcium instead of gaining it. This debunks the myth about milk being good for the bones. In fact, the countries with the highest levels of dairy consumption also have the highest cases of osteoporosis. One glass of milk contains 135 million puss cells, feces, antibiotics, blood, and Bovine growth hormones that are linked to obesity and cancer.
I’ve heard stories about vegans having a very difficult time giving up cheese. In a poll that was taken the the majority of the vegans surveyed stated that extra cheese pizza was the most difficult thing to give up and what they miss the most. I don’t necessarily miss cheese, but I can surely tell a huge difference between vegan cheese and dairy cheese. I find that vegan cheese is absolutely disgusting! I thought that maybe I just need to give it time for my taste buds to adapt. Then I came upon a theory that made me second guess that. Milk has casomorphins that are a form of opiates that are in the same class as morphine and other opiate based narcotics. Casomorphins becomes the casein protein. The casein amino acids cross the blood brain barrier when digested and latch onto the same brain receptors as heroin. This means that we are becoming chemically addicted to the dairy. So when a baby drinks milk and instantly falls asleep, it’s the equivalent as to when a heroin addict gets a hit and instantly starts to nod off. So we are addicted to the dairy cheese and this is a reason why the vegan cheese tastes so bad.
Large amounts of estrogen is also found in dairy products. This should be expected since cows are females and produce even higher levels of estrogen during pregnancy that secretes into the milk. Elevated estrogen levels in women are linked to breast and ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, blood clots, stroke, and thyroid dysfunction. Elevated levels of estrogen in men are linked to erectile dysfunction, infertility, and gynecomastia (man boobs).
I could go on and on about the negative aspects of dairy products. I dropped a little science on you but please do the research for yourself. Its not my job to try to convince you to a plant based way of eating. I just tell you what works for me, give you the information, and you can make the necessary determination for yourself. However, this vegan craze is spreading for a reason. At some point you will have to look in the mirror and ask yourself some serious questions concerning your health.
