Bible Scriptures For A Better Diet: Plant Based Eating

This is my second installment of Bible Scriptures For A Healthy Diet and I wanted to focus on plant based eating. I totally understand that the Lord gave us a list of clean meats to eat. I also understand that Christ was a pescatarian. However, The Most High becomes enraged with those whom lust over meat. Lets look at the Book of Numbers

Numbers 11:4-6:

4 The rabbla with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! 5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost- also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic. 6 But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!”

So how did The Most High Respond to the crying of the Israelites?

Numbers 11 16-20, 31-34

16 And the Lord said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand with thee.

17 And I will come down and talk with thee there; and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.

18 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the Lord, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt. Therefore the Lord will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

19 Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor twenty days;

20 But even a whole month, until it come out of your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: Because that ye have despised the Lord which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?

31 And there went forth a wind from the Lord, and brought quail from the sea, and let them fall by the camp,as it were two cubits high upon the face of the Earth.

32 And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quail. He that gathered least gathered ten homers: And they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.

33 And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord SMOTE the people with a very GREAT PLAGUE.

34 And he called the name of that place Kibroth Hattaavah because there they buried the people that LUSTED (Over Meat).

Though The Most High gave us “clean meats”, he still seems to prefer a plant based diet. I guarantee that my Israelite forefathers wish they had never complained.

We have historical facts that suggest the base of the diet of the Israelites of antiquity was plant based. So even during this time they had some form of awareness that 60% of the body is water. So yes we must consume plenty of drinking water, but we must also get water from our fruits and vegetables. In the book of Genesis a covenant was developed between the Elohim and Adam. This covenant lasted from Adam to Noah.

Genesis 1: 29-30

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the Earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. And to every beast of the Earth and to every bird of the heavens, and to everything that creeps on the Earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.”

This shows that the original diet given to us by the Elohim was vegetarian if not vegan. To furthermore stress the significance of a plant based diet let’s look at Daniel. Nebuchadnezzar tried to force Daniel into conforming into the wicked ways of Babylon. He offered Daniel the King’s meat (swine flesh) and this was his response:

Daniel 1: 8-15

8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

9 Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

10 And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my Lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? Then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.

11 Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.

12 Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.

13 Then let our countenances of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.

14 So he contested to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.

15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.

Not only did Daniel follow the law given to him by The Most High, but he also proved that strength and longevity can be obtained with a vegan diet. Now, here is a list of superfoods found in the bible that you can find to this very day.
