Where Do You Get Your Protein?

I would assume that all vegans have heard this question. All individuals whom are still animal protein eaters scratch their heads wondering where vegans acquire their protein. These are some of the largest and most powerful mammals on land. These three animals share one common trait. They are all herbivores (vegan). Does anyone ask these guys where they get their protein. Of course not and it would be silly to do so. You eat the steak for protein, but have you wondered where the cow gets its protein?

So what’s a complete protein vs. an incomplete protein? In layman terms a complete protein contains an adequate amount of all nine essential amino acids and an incomplete protein does not. All animal proteins are complete proteins. Now there are a plethora of plant proteins however, they are incomplete. This is such a simple fix. For example, pair some black beans with brown rice and you now have a complete protein. Its not difficult to get your protein. I probably get more protein in a day than a meat eater. I know many wonder how, so lets take a look at a list of plant proteins:

This table shows that many of the foods that a vegan eats contain protein. If you still feel like maybe you’re falling short on your protein then you can incorporate a vegan protein shake in your diet. There are numerous versions of vegan protein powders. I personally feel that hemp protein is the best because it contains all nine essential amino acids and is great for immunity. I also suggest taking a superfood mix with spirulina. It’s one of the most nutrient dense and protein rich plants you can consume. There are also vegan and organic protein bars that can be eaten as a snack. Plant based burgers and substitutes are also an option. Beyond Meat is my favorite product and the Beyond Bugers are the absolute truth! Each patty has 23 grams of protein so there you go.

Here’s an example of how I get my protein ( I am a religious intermittent faster so you can eat more if needed):

3am- almond yogurt with chia seeds, 2 pieces of gluten free vegan toast with nut butter, banana, and protein shake with spirulina

12pm- protein smoothie

6pm- vegan enchiladas with quinoa, black beans, brown rice, and gluten free soft tortillas.

7pm- two vegan protein bars

So I go 15-16 hours a day without eating solid foods, but you don’t have to. The point is to show that I get an adequate amount of protein everyday. So, if this is an issue that has made you hesitant of becoming vegan then stop worrying.



Benefits of Going Alkaline

I learned about the benefits of going alkaline while studying the works of Dr. Sebi. When I decided to go vegan implementing the alkaline way of eating was very important. Dr. Sebi educated us for decades on the benefits of eating alkaline, but now the mainstream is finally catching up and validating the teachings of Dr. Sebi.

Acid and Alkaline

We’ve got to first establish what acid and alkaline is. We as humans have a pH balance in our bodies that measures the acidic levels of our blood. The acidic measurements of your blood can make determinations of your overall health and potential for future diseases.pH-Scale

The pH scale is used to measure our blood. This scale measures from 0 to 14. 0 on the scale is considered most acidic and 14 is considered most alkaline. A body that’s highly acidic is the perfect environment for disease and illnesses. However, it’s important to not become too alkaline because this can lead to a condition called Alkalosis. The perfect level of alkalinity for the body is at 7.35. Dr. Otto Warburg won the Nobel Peace Prize for proving that cancer cells can not live in an alkaline body. This was the fundamental basis of Dr. Sebi’s teachings.

It’s not difficult at all to eat an alkalized diet. It’s a plant based form of eating because meat proteins and dairy are highly acidic. The residue left behind after our body has metabolized the food determines if the food is acidic, neutral, or alkaline. A great example is a lemon. We think of a lemon as being acidic but once it has metabolized it leaves our blood alkaline. So pile on the lemons on your next dinner date at the restaurant.

You also want to drink spring, alkaline water and avoid tap water. I understand that alkaline water is expensive. There are alkaline drops on Amazon that are inexpensive and highly effective. Add a few drops to some bottled water and you’re good to go.

Do your research if the alkaline way of eating interest you. Again, it has been proven to prevent cancer and other illnesses. So if you’re having health issues try going alkaline. Its the most delicious transition that you can make.

The Goal And Purpose

I’ve had some people ask me why I chose the title collectively conquering autoimmune and what’s the goal and purpose of it. As I was recovering from my last Chron’s flare up I began doing intense research. In this research I continuously ran across this term “autoimmune”. I always knew Chron’s was an inflammatory bowel disease along with ulcerative colitis, but I had never heard it described as autoimmune. I had heard of the term but never took the time to understand the meaning.

What is Autoimmune?

Autoimmune simply put is when the immune system attacks healthy cells. I’ve went into details in earlier post on what triggers this immune respone, so I won’t waste time repeating those details here. Your doctor may describe it as your immune system being overactive. I find that definition to be insufficient. Think of your immune system as being the greatest boxer on Earth, fatigued and blind folded. You place him in the ring tired and blind folded with his opponent and thirty other people. The boxer is going to try to knockout any and everything within arm’s reach without discrimination even if it means you. So the immune system isn’t simply overactive. It has become confused as to what is friend or foe.

Collectively Conquering

I had wondered if autoimmune was some rare condition but quickly learned that’s an emphatic no! Over fifty million people suffer from a form of autoimmune disease and many more if you take in account diseases that are autoimmune in nature, but don’t fall under the umbrella. Now some people might look at the title and bypass it because they’re not aware of the diseases that are considered autoimmune.

If you have eczema, asthma, allergies, rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, hepatitis, type 1 and 2 diabetes, dementia, multiple sclerosis, lupus, hypothyroidism, and cancer then you have an autoimmune disease or a condition autoimmune in nature. These are common conditions that afflict our loved ones everyday.

That’s the collection in the “collectively”. How many of you either have one of these ailments or have loved ones dealing with them? Everybody. I listened to an almost four hour lecture by Ron Shields on how he reversed eczema and asthma. Though I don’t have these conditions, the cause and effects, and natural treatments are very similar to Chron’s.

The process of conquering these diseases or what we refer to as “reversing” can only be obtained when we collectively share information that’s not provided by those in western medicine. The masses are unaware of the dangers associated with gluten and dairy products. Doctors are not informing people of the importance of gut health and what the gut microbiome is. Its the sharing of foods, herbs, supplements, workout routines, and etc. that gives individuals the ability to take their lives back from a future doomed of prescription drugs. Modern medicine focuses only on the suppression of symptoms while natural remedies puts the body in proper balance to heal itself. The sooner you realize that the industry of Big Pharma, FDA, CDC, commercial agriculture, and other institutions don’t care about you the better off you will be.

My goal is to do my part to inform the people of how to improve their health. I especially want to push this agenda in the Black community. Its interesting how we feel Black lives matter for so many things except when it’s dinner time. We will sit down, stuff our guts with all types of junk, and then act like it’s a badge of honor that we stuffed ourselves to the point that we can’t move. White supremacy doesn’t even have to work hard to kill us. Take us to a buffet and we will kill ourselves. Get mad if you want but I’m telling the truth. I’m guilty of doing the exact same thing in the past. People want everybody under the sun to pray for them because they’re ill, but they have yet to take one step forward to improve their own condition. Others can’t care about your health more than you care about your own.

It’s deeper than just autoimmune diseases. You discover even more just how wicked and satanic this system really is. People better get the foolish idea that Satan is some boogeyman under the ground with a pitchfork burning people out of their minds. Satan is a spiritual essence manifested through a physical conduit. So you look at the characteristics of an individual and there’s your devil. Only a devil would put ingredients in your child’s food that other nations have banned from giving to their dogs. Only a devil would put ingredients in children’s vaccinations that lead to autism, cancer, respiratory issues, and other conditions. Only a devil would use a natural plant like soy to weaponize the food against men. Soy lowers testosterone levels dramatically and almost all of our food has soy or a soy byproduct. This is partly the reason that we have so many punkdafied men that think it’s cool to wear rompers and dresses. Only a devil would come up with the idea to create animals in a test tube for the purpose of human consumption. You’ve got to wake up and know when the freaking anti Christ is staring you in the face.

How many of us take environmental factors into consideration? Its a real dynamic when considering our health. Chemtrails, personal hygiene products, cleaning products, cooking equipment,  tooth fillings, and many other things have a significant impact on our overall health. These are things that must be discussed because it’s playing a role in the decline of our public health.

Mental health seems to be a component we miss in discussing overall health. Mental health is almost taboo in the Black community. Sometimes when you go through a mental health assessment you’re asked questions of your physical health. If your physical health is bad, it can lead to poor mental health and vice versa. Dis-ease of the mind can lead to dis-ease of the body and soul.

So my desire is to inform, network, research, and continue to bang out this information. I have many things in the near future to discuss. I’m in the works of doing some joint health ventures in the future with individuals that are also passionate about health. So remember that your health is your wealth.







Happy Birthday Mommy

card-celebration-close-up-867462Happy Birthday Mommy! Though it’s been almost 13 years since we have spoken, I never forget your birthday. I always wake up, shed a tear, and send a kiss to the heavens for you on this day. However, I felt the need to reach out to you this birthday. I’m about to go into Grandma Hattie Mae mode so I have a lot to say.

I know, the last time you saw me I was in bad shape. In the streets like crazy, getting locked up, smoking a lot of weed and drinking liquor all day. It unfortunately became even worse after you departed me. You always worried about me more than you worried about yourself. I felt that your worrying over my crazy ass is what made your cancer more severe. I lived with a lot of regrets  and grief over how I handled the last few months of your life for a very long time. I can’t even use the excuse of being fearful of losing you as an excuse because I was already turning into a loose canon. Your departure was just the straw that broke the camel’s back. But I’ve grown into that man that you raised me to be. I want to reflect and tell you what I neglected to do so before you left.

Now that I’m older I see all of those jewels of wisdom that you dropped on me. I can never thank you enough. Thank you Mom for taking care of me when I was continually battling respiratory issues when I was a child. Thank you for the loving and special care you gave me regardles of how big or small my issues were.

Thank you Mom for always making sure that I had a hot and nutritious breakfast every morning before school. Thank you Mom for being a protector while I was still learning to be one. Thank you Mom for being a great father even though that wasn’t the job that you signed up for. Thank you Mom for reading to me and stressing the importance of knowing my history.

Thank you for teaching me how to cook and nourish myself. Thank you for always making me feel like I was the most special kid in the world on my birthdays. Thank you for sitting by me on those countless emergency room trips because I wanted to be a stunt devil. Thank you for being a best friend and being able to talk to me about any and everything.

My entire life you always worked two or three jobs. I saw you go through chemotherapy during the day, go to work at night and you didn’t complain not one single time! Thank you for showing me that strength and determination. Thank you for setting the example of what work ethic looks like. Thank you for showing me what unconditional love feels like.

Thank you for the way you would bake all types of sweet treats during the holidays. Thank you for coming to all of my football games even though I knew you were exhausted from working two jobs. Thank you for always making sure that I was always one of the best dressed kids in school. Thank you for giving me the startup money for my candy business as a kid, and thank you for being patient with kids knocking on our door all day.

Thank you for not sheltering me and allowing me to become my own individual. Thank you for raising me to be a free thinker that’s not confined to a box. I admire you on how you stood your ground when people questioned why you were raising me in such a manner.

Its the manner that you raised me that makes me the man, husband, and father that I am today. Because of you I had no fall sense of reality as to what it is to be a black man in America. You raised me to stand on my square and not back down from anything or anyone. You raised me knowing that my ancestors on those slave ships were Hebrew Israelites and that we are God’s chosen people that fit the curses of Deuteronomy 28. You raised me to be an unapologetically proud and strong black man. You raised me to not take crap from anybody. You raised me to never be afraid regardless of whom the opposition is. You raised me to know the truth and to fight with the truth. You raised me to never conform to what other people want for me to be. You raised me to be strong and not a kiss ass. Because of you Mom I would rather die on my feet like a man than live on my knees like a coward.

You raised me to not care about how people judge or think about me. Many people feel that my attitude is stand-offish and somewhat hateful. That’s simply because they don’t understand my love. You raised me to have a burning passion for my people and to have that revolutionary spirit. It frustrates me when I don’t see my people with that same spirit, but you always told me that not everyone is wired the same. Not everyone is willing to take a risk for the sake of freedom, justice, and liberation. They may or may not reach that point. I love my people regardless. I just have to continue to do what I do and allow my works do the talking.

You gave me so many lessons to live by Mom. You are the greatest. I am now on my health crusade, but I couldn’t begin that without becoming mentally and spiritually healthy first. I had to find forgiveness in myself for all of the craziness that I had done. I learned something very valuable on this journey. Nobody has the right to determine how someone develops a relationship with The Most High. When I was locked up, it was just The Creator and myself. When I was drunk and passing out, it was just The Creator and myself. When I walked into a gang shootout on the Eastside and not one bullet hit me, it was just The Creator and myself.  As I was struggling to pull myself together, it was just myself and The Creator. So with all the time that The Most High and myself spent together at the lowest point in my life,  who in the hell can tell me how to have a relationship with the Father. That’s that free thinking you instilled in me.

I get so damn angry at times because you are not still here. There are so many times that I seek your counsel. I can talk to my wife about anything but you raised a very complex individual. You understand me inside and out. But that’s just my selfishness. I know you had to go to the kingdom and sit at the side with the ancestors. You had a greater work to do. I sit back, take a deep breath, and if I listen carefully, I can hear you guiding me.

I hope that no one wastes the opportunity to express their love and appreciation for their loved ones like I did. Regrets can kill your health faster than poor eating. But because of the awesome Mom that you are I know that you forgave me a long time ago. Thank you Mom for just being you. I love you.



Avoiding Dye For Our Children

Human beings are by nature drawn to things with vibrant colors. When we see food with bright colors, a signal tells the brain that this food is going to be absolutely delicious.  However, do we consider how these foods get their color? Outside of fruits and veggies, there are no foods that I can think of that have an assortment of natural colors.

Now, many of these foods with vibrant colors are food that our children eat. Foods such as cereals, candies, gelatin, baked goods, pickles, honey, gum, soft drinks, and many others are colored with artificial food dyes to give these vibrant colors. So what’s the problem with food dyes?

Reports are showing that food dyes are having an impact on the health of our children. Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5 and Yellow No. 6 seem to be the major culprits. These dyes are being linked to behavioral issues, asthma, allergies, and cancer. The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) released a 68-page report detailing the potential of artificial food dyes to contribute to hyperactivity in children, increase cancer risk and lead to other health problems. There are parents that began to see a change of behavioral patterns in their children. They would lose focus, become hyperactive, and aggressive. After doing research they began to eliminate foods with dyes from their diet. This elimination process helped to reduce the symptoms of ADHD that had developed. Some children were ultimately able to get off prescription medicine.

Food dyes have also been linked to food allergies. Stephanie Watson and Dr. Judith Marcin give a list of food dyes and the reactions they cause:


Carmine, also referred to as cochineal extract or natural red 4, comes from dried bugs. It has been used in food since the 16th century. It is also found in cosmetics. A variety of reactions have been notedincluding facial swelling, rashes, and wheezing. It’s also suspected to have a role in cases of anaphylactic shock where a cause isn’t easily identified.

You can find natural red 4 dye in:

  • burgers and sausages
  • drinks
  • candy
  • fruit yogurt

FD&C yellow #5

FD&C yellow #5, also referred to as tartrazine, is one of two yellow food dyes that has been associated with allergic reactions. People have reported hives and swelling after eating foods containing FD&C yellow #5. Studies many years ago also suggested tartrazine might trigger asthma attacks in children, although recent research hasn’t found the same evidence.

You can find FD&C yellow #5 in foods like:

  • candy
  • canned vegetables
  • cheese
  • drinks
  • ice cream
  • ketchup
  • salad dressings
  • hot dogs


The other yellow dye, annatto, comes from the seeds of the achiote tree, which is found in tropical countries. Annatto gives foods a yellow-orange color. There are cases of mild skin reactions from annatto. Some studies have reported cases of severe, anaphylactic reactions in people who were sensitive to this dye.

Annatto is found in:

  • cereals
  • cheeses
  • drinks
  • snack foods

Along with the allergic reactions are also asthma attacks.

 These food dyes are also linked to cancer. Here is information showing the obvious neglect of the FDA to serve what’s in the best interest of the public’s health.

James Huff, an associate at the National Toxicology Program commented, “Some dyes have caused cancers in animals, contain cancer-causing contaminants, or have been inadequately tested for cancer or other problems. Their continued use presents unnecessary risks to humans, especially young children. It’s disappointing that the [U.S. Food and Drug Administration] has not addressed the toxic threat posed by food dyes.”

CSPI mailed a letter to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last week detailing a request that food dyes be banned in the United States to protect consumers.  CSPI charges that the FDA is failing to enforce the law in the following ways:

– “Red 3 and Citrus Red 2 should be banned under the Delaney amendment, because they caused cancer in rats (some uses were banned in 1990), as should Red 40, Yellow 5, and Yellow 6, which are tainted with cancer-causing contaminants.

– Evidence suggests, though does not prove, that Blue 1, Blue 2, Green 3, Red 40 and Yellow 6 cause cancer in animals. There is certainly not “convincing evidence” of safety.

– Dyed foods should be considered adulterated under the law, because the dyes make a food “appear better or of greater value than it is”–typically by masking the absence of fruit, vegetable or other more costly ingredient.”

CSPI charges that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) knows about the health risks imposed by the presence of these dyes, but has not acted to protect consumers.

The constant that I saw in doing research was that the EU has taken steps to educate their people while the U.S. has failed to do so. Just remember when you have your hand over heart and you’re singing America The Beautiful, that your lovely nation is giving food to your children that other nations have banned from feeding to their dogs.



The Class System of Eating and Gentrification

When thinking of eating you might consider taste, favorite restaurant, or your favorite dish. In 2018 we must consider the socio-economical, cultural, and racial implications of eating.

Eating Classes

The existence of commercial agriculture, gmo’s, Monsanto, fast and junk food, and other elements have changed the class system of eating. Small farmers have been crushed by commercial agricultural companies and pushes consumers to stores such as Super Wal-Mart. The average American on a budget goes into the store with a set amount of money that they can spend on groceries. They walk through the aisles picking up sugary cereals and snacks, greasy chips, processed boxed dinners, and nutrient depleted produce. Why is this happening?

Of course we know people people have horrible eating habits, however I feel that more people are forced to eat poorly due to finance. When I was working on my social work degree I heard stories about senior citizens whom made $5 or $10 to much on their social security to qualify for food stamps yet still lived in poverty. They are forced to balance bills, medication, and groceries. They’ve got to have electricity and running water. They also must have their medicine. Now they are forced to eat the cheapest thing in the store which is always the worst thing in the store.

A family with two or three active boys can make a meal of high sodium, processed hamburger helper stretch out more than trying to by several pieces of wild caught organic salmon with organic veggies.

Now a family with the means has no issue with buying healthier options of food. They also are more informed with simple things like reading a barcode to tell if the food is organic, gmo, or contains pesticides. They know about apps such as ScanLife that can scan a barcode and give you all of the information concerning a product. It’s no big deal for them to go to a trusted farmer’s market or carry a large grocery bill at Whole Foods and it not impact their finances.

Whole Foods and Gentrification

Cities such as New Orleans, San Francisco, Chicago, and Detroit are known as “food deserts”. This means there are no grocery stores within a mile of the community. Therefore, they have no access to fresh healthy foods. This situation mostly occurs in impoverished communities and significantly impacts African Americans and Hispanics. The markets that are in these communities are usually owned by individuals whom live outside of the community and don’t look like those whom live in it. So they could care less about the quality of the product that they are selling to their customers. The mentality is ” Let’s come in and prey on the voiceless poor, make our money, and head back into the suburbs”. I’ve been into markets in some of these cities and the food is rotten, spoiled, and grossly outdated and I’m not over exaggerating.

As things seemed to become as horrible as they could get, Whole Foods comes in to save day! They have outstanding products and falling under the Amazon umbrella really allows them to expand. They are popping up in Harlem, Newark, the community of Englewood in Chicago and many other communities.

This is absolutely phenomenal correct? WRONG! The reality is that once Whole Foods moves into your area the community as you know it is over. With each passing year gentrification is becoming more prominent and poor people are being pushed out of their homes.  Research shows that moving a Whole Foods in a community automatically ups the property value of the area. The Whole Foods brand is marketed towards a particular demographic and it’s not the poor original inhabitants of the community. It’s for the ones gentrifying the neighborhood and pushing the poor people out. Whole Foods is nothing more than the banner that says pack your bags and get your piss poor ass out of here.

This is another sign that America does not give a damn about poor people. Its absolutely ridiculous that we are having a conversation about food being a class system in the greatest nation in the world. It’s another reminder that “great” does not always mean “good” .This is clearly modern day Babylon. Can someone please tell me where the people that are being forced out of their homes are going? Grandma that’s been in that house for 45 years is only given a few dollars for her property, so where is she going? This is like the damn Trail of Tears all over again.

Can We Trust It?

In the U.S., drug culture is as American as baseball cards and racism. I honestly don’t know many people that have never been high in their life. Hell, back in the days I used to wake up every day to a good morning blunt. So what’s better than smoking weed and getting the munchies? Smoking weed, getting the munchies, while at the same time treating a chronic illness that modern medicine has failed to remedy.

Arthritis, cancer, glaucoma, MS, Chron’s and other autoimmune diseases, AIDS symptoms and so many more conditions have had positive responses to marijuana. As of now, 29 states have passed legislation for medical marijuana. I live in Tennessee, and parents of children whom suffer from conditions that are treated with medical marijuana out of state are advocating very hard for the passing of medical marijuana legislation.

I’ve been asked by people if I would ever consider using medical marijuana for my Chron’s if it ever became legal. I use hemp protein and realize the many uses of hemp products. Maybe I would consider it, but my days of getting high are over. I know there is CBD oil, however my research shows that the THC is actually good for Chron’s.

It’s wonderful that people are finding something that alleviates the pain and suffering they are going through, however something brings me concern. Medical marijuana is being produced by pharmaceutical companies. Some of these pharmaceutical companies are the same manufactures of drugs that made you want to get away from pharmaceuticals in the first place. If we can’t trust them with the regular drugs they produce, why are we so gullible to believe that the marijuana is any better? It sounds like we may potentially be putting ourselves in a dangerous situation.

Let me give an example. I did a previous post on Humira and the dangers of it. It’s linked to various forms of cancer any leukemia, infections and other diseases. Humira is created by the pharmaceutical company Abbvie. Abbvie has been making Marinol for several years, but they’re expanding on their cannabis line of products. Now, if I know that Abbvie’s top product and highest selling drug in the nation is linked to severe health conditions, why would I trust this product just because it’s marijuana. What freaking sense does that make? So all of a sudden Satan has a conscious?

If I were pushing an agenda marijuana would be the perfect vehicle to push the agenda. People will pay attention to the side effects of Humira, but wouldn’t blink an eye at the possibility of marijuana being a threat to our health. People will be rushing to get that prescription filled and make a pit stop to Popeye’s not realizing that Abbvie has created a weed product more dangerous than the fried gmo chicken they’re about to eat.

I just suggest watch who you are getting your marijuana from and be aware of the chemicals being used to enhance the potency.
